We’ve finally got round to booking our flights (or more specifically, the airlines have finally got round to releasing the prices for next year). Went into Trailfinders on Friday and got it all sorted, which was very exciting.
No major changes from our original plan but this is what we have booked:
10 Feb 08: London – Nairobi
Overland to Cape Town
17 Apr 08: Cape Town – Singapore
Travelling around SE Asia, specifically concentrating on Malaysia, Indonesia and Phillipines but will also go to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia etc
14 Sep 08: Singapore – Sydney
Last minute decision to stop off in Sydney for a week or so because it cost us nothing extra
21 Sep 08: Sydney – Auckland
4 Months wandering around, probably in a camper
14 Jan 09: Auckland – Raratonga
3 weeks in the Cook Islands: paradise
)
4 Feb 09: Raratonga – Los Angeles
Overland to San Fransisco for a weekend before we come home: might take the opportunity to renew our wardrobe before we re-enter civilised life!!!
8 Feb 09: San Francisco – London
£1,200 including tax, which is not bad at all for 7 flights and 30,500 miles!
Due to the vagueries of the flights system, all the dates after Singapore are subject to change. Even thought we have a round the world ticket that is valid for 12 months, we can only book flights 10 months in advance, so we will have to change most of them en-route.
