Countdown – Part II

January 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This time in 4 weeks time we will have arrived in Nairobi Airport. Gemma has just 8 days left of work and I have 13. Needless to say, we are both a little excited.

Of course this excitement is tempered slightly about the violence in Kenya. I don’t think this is a major problem though (at last not for us. I am sure many Kenyan’s have a different perspective). Our tour company are saying that the situation on the ground is not all that bad and are only being deterred by foreign office advice for tourists not to travel. If the FCO advise continues then we will just have to catch a connecting flight to Tanzania and pick up the tour in Arusha.

We have got just about everything we need – although we did have to overcome a habit of not buying things. We have been saving money so much for the past few years that we simply refused to pay full price for anything. Even if we needed it… now!

We have now put the house on the rental market – but then a potential buyer is coming around tonight to have a look, so we still don’t really know what is happening with that.

No more  work. For a whole year. Can’t wait!
