Gem and Stu’s World Tour

The Master Plan

Some year ago we decided that we would take some time out to go travelling round the world. The urge has always been strong to see and experience different parts of this planet (and, lets be honest, have a twelve month jolly).

For one reason or another, this has taken a bit longer than intended but we have now pulled togather enough money and the time is right for us to be ale to take a career break. God is the time right – we are both desperate to finish our jobs and move on. We are both at a pretty convenient time career-wise. We are ready to take the next step (whatever that may be) and are not tied down to our current position but we also have some experience to come back to.

So, we have bought a ticket, put the house on the market and are ready to hand in our notice, don our backpacks and fly off into the sunset…

As for a plan… well, we are suitably vague. You don’t want to overdo the planning. Need to leave some space for spontenaity:

Our flights are booked and take us to Southern Africa, South East Asia, New Zealand, the Cook Islands and then a short stop in San Fransisco on the way home.

Africa is pretty much planned. We are doing a 7 week overland trek from Nairobi to Cape Town. Then, I think a couple of weeks chilling out on the beach is in order before we fly off to Singapore.

We have planned about 5 months to see SE Asia but haven’t planned too much more than that. We know we definitely want to do some diving – we will get into Singapore just before Gem’s birthday so I think we will head straight up to Tioman. We also want to see alot of Malaysia, Borneo, Philippines and Indonesia. Obviously we are going to go up to Thailand and go visit Rachel in Laos. We will probably also go to Angkor Wat in Cambodia and maybe into Vietnam and even China – who knows?

Then, with a short stopover in Sidney (we could add it in free on our flights so why not), we will head over to Auckland, get ourselves a campervan and spend the next four months travelling around that beautiful country :)

A Couple of weeks sleeping in a hammock and drinking coctails out of a coconut in the Cook Islands and then a weekend in San Fransisco before we head home.

After all that, if we still have any money (credit) left, we will hopefully finish off the winter season in Canada somewhere.

Not a bad life is it ;)

Having just spent the weekend with your Mum & Dad, we’ve now found your details.
Brilliant photos and brilliant itineray, and we’re as jealous as hell. Good for you.
We’re off to Spain for Christmas week, having a look-about for next years relocation (hopefully). Keep in touch
